75 Jahre Kriegsende / 75 years end of WWII

75 Jahre nach Kriegsende feiern wir heute in Berlin den Tag der Befreiung. Und nach wie vor ist es für uns schwer, unsere Vergangenheit, unsere Familiengeschichten und unser Selbstbild miteinander in Einklang zu bringen.

"My mothers father" habe ich über meinen Großvater geschrieben, den ich nie kennengelernt habe.

75 years after the end of WWII we are celebrating the day of liberation in Berlin. And to me it seems that it's still hard for us to come to terms with our national past, our family histories and the image we have of ourselves as Germans.

"My mothers father" is a song about my grandfather whom I never met.
