Das Album, das rückwärts entstand... /// The album that was created backwards ...
Mitte 2021, während der Corona-Zeit, unternahm ich meine erste Zugfahrt seit langer Zeit. Ich schaute die ganze Zeit aus dem Fenster und genoss es einfach nur Zug zu fahren. Irgendwo auf der Strecke hielten wir neben einer alten Lokomotive und ich machte ein spontanes Foto, von dem ich dachte, das könnte ein cooles Cover-Artwork für ein Album mit Zugsongs werden.
In 2021 during Covid I took my first train ride in a really long time. And I couldn't stop staring out the window, just enjoying! Somewhere along the line we came to a halt next to an old locomotive and I just took a spontanous photo, thinking, this might make a cool cover artwork for an album of train songs.
Leider hatte ich keine Zug-Songs für ein solches Album. Aus einem spontanen Impuls heraus postete ich das Foto auf Facebook, mit der Frage, welche Songtitel zu diesem Album-Cover passen könnten. Sofort fingen die Leute an, Vorschläge zu machen. "Trains", "Last train home", "Blood on the Tracks" (Klar, schreib einen Song mit dem gleichen Titel wie eines von Bob Dylans besten Alben!)
Unfortunately I had no train songs to go with the photo. So just out of curiosity I posted it on facebook and asked folks, what an album with this cover artwork should be called. Immediately people started making suggestions. "Trains", "Last train home", "Blood on the tracks" (Sure, write a song with the same title like one of Bob Dylans greatest albums!)
Das war mein Ausgangspunkt. Songs zu diesen Songtiteln zu schreiben. Einige davon schrieb ich zusammen mit den Ideengebern: "Strangers on a train" mit Jonathan Peter Beers, "Last train home" mit Markus Rill und "Blood on the track" mit H.P. Daniels.
"Get off this train" basiert auf einem Traum, den ich hatte, ziemlich genau Wort für Wort und "Train going west" schrieb ich vor vielen Jahren auf einer Zugfahrt durch Norwegen. Elvis Presleys "Mystery Train" - ich konnte mir die Gelegenheit und den Spaß nicht entgehen lassen, diesen Song aufzunehmen!
That was my starting point. Turn those titles into songs! Some of them I co-wrote with the persons who suggested the title: "Strangers on a train" with Jonathan Peter Beers, "Last train home" with Markus Rill and "Blood on the tracks" with H.P. Daniels.
"Get off this train" is based on a dream I had, pretty much scene by scene and "Train going west" I wrote many years ago on a train ride through Norway. Elvis Presley's "Mystery train" - well, I couldn't pass on the opportunity and fun to do that one!
Jetzt brauchte ich nur noch einen Titel für dieses Minialbum, also habe ich jeden in der Trailhead-Community (das seid ihr auf meiner Mailingliste) nach Ideen gefragt. Die Resonanz war überwältigend!
Now all I needed was a title for this group of songs, so I asked everyone in the Trailhead community (that's you guys on my mailing list) for ideas. The response was overwhelming!
